The Municipal Court’s core values are Independence, Integrity, Fairness and Quality of Service. Municipal Courts are statutory courts of limited jurisdiction.
Proceedings include all matters within their statutory jurisdiction including:
- Disorderly Persons Offenses
- Petty Disorderly Persons Offenses
- Motor Vehicle Violations
- County and Municipal Ordinance Offenses
- Fish & Game Violations
- Boating Law Violations and all other proceedings in which jurisdiction is granted.
Court Sessions are held on the first and third Tuesdays of every month at 3:00pm.
The Borough Of Highlands is now holding both virtual and in person court sessions.
Court sessions are only for people who received an official court notice to attend regardless of the date on your ticket or summons.

You may either mail your payment in or place a check or money order in the drop box outside the Municipal Building (Main Entrance).
Be sure to put your ticket or summons number on the payment – to ensure it will be posted properly.
All other inquiries may be emailed to Sandra Akes email and your email will be returned in the order that it is received.
