Very hot conditions, especially for the time of year, are expected Sunday along with a chance of strong to severe thunderstorms as a cold front approaches the area.
Hazardous Weather: Heat index values in the mid 90s for Sunday. Strong to severe thunderstorms possible Sunday afternoon into evening.
Locations affected: Regarding the heat threat…. the entire area, with the greatest concern being for heat-sensitive portions of the urban corridor. Regarding the severe weather threat… the entire area, with the greatest concern being near the Lehigh Valley and north and west .
Timing: Through 6 PM Sunday evening for the Heat. 2 – 10 PM for the severe weather threat.
Impacts: Heat related illnesses are possible, especially among vulnerable populations. Damaging winds are the primary threat, with hail being a secondary threat.
Confidence on occurrence: High for the Heat. Moderate for severe weather.

Multiple weather hazards are possible over the next couple of days, with a risk of severe thunderstorms today and very hot conditions still expected this weekend.
Hazardous Weather: Severe thunderstorms and hot conditions.
Locations affected: For severe thunderstorms, the highest potential is over northern and western portions of the area. For the heat, the entire area, with the greatest concern being for heat-sensitive portions of the urban corridor.
Timing: For the severe thunderstorms, from mid afternoon to early evening today. For the heat, Saturday and Sunday, with the hottest temperatures on Saturday.
Impacts: For the thunderstorms, damaging winds are the main threat, but hail and an isolated tornado are possible. For the heat, heat related illnesses are possible, especially among vulnerable populations.
Confidence on occurrence: For the severe thunderstorms, low confidence. It is possible few if any thunderstorms develop, but if they do, impacts could be fairly significant. For the heat, high confidence.
