Highlands OEM – February 27-28 Winter Storm

Event Summary (5:30 am update)

 Snow and mixed precipitation will move into northeast Pennsylvania and northern New
Jersey early this evening and continue into Tuesday. Much of the precipitation will end
on Tuesday morning. Total snow and sleet accumulations will range from 5 to 8
inches across the far northern areas and taper to lesser amounts across the Lehigh
Valley and into central NJ. Some pockets of a light glaze of ice are possible, however,
freezing rain looks to be limited. Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather
Advisories have been issued.


 Snowfall rates tonight can be as high as around an inch per hour, especially for the I-80
corridor.


 Snowfall totals especially for the I-78 corridor will depend on how much mixing occurs,
with even some areas potentially changing over to some rain.


 Some sleet should occur early this evening in the I-95 corridor from near Trenton to
Philadelphia then to Wilmington, however, any accumulations are expected to be limited.


 A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for the Delaware Bay and Atlantic coastal waters.
However, a Gale Warning for the northern NJ Atlantic coastal waters.
