Spotted Lantern Fly – More Informational Resources

Get up to date on the latest guidance from the NJ Department of Agriculture

When it comes to unwelcome visitors, the Spotted Lantern Fly may be near the top of the list here in Highlands.  For something we barely knew about a year ago, they seem to be popping up all over the place.  But what can you do besides try to be quick enough to stomp them out?  Well the NJ Department of Agriculture has some suggestions, including removing some of the host trees that these pests prefer.  Did you know that the ailanthus (aka Tree of Heaven) is preferred by these little monsters?  By removing these from your property, you can help reduce the number of “Welcome” signs we have in Highlands for the Lantern Fly.  For more information on what you can do, check out the following link from the NJ Department of Agriculture here and absolutely keep trying your best to stomp them out!
